By Design
A satirical, dark, one-of-a-kind experience of furniture-based transfiguration.
Middle-aged Camille (Juliette Lewis) feels unseen, unheard, and unappreciated until she encounters an exquisite chair one day, and wishes so hard in her malaise that she herself could be as cherished as this object is. Camille wishes so hard in fact that she literally becomes the chair, leaving her discarded body behind. With bizarre dream logic and the occasional dance number, By Design examines what kind of life one would have to lead in order to prefer being an inanimate piece of wood, and what that says about what the world values and what (or who) it does not.
